INTRODUCTION

B.F.B.B Contests Ltd are delighted to invite you to enter the 2008 National Youth Brass Band Championships, which will take place on Sunday 13th April 2008, at the Royal Northern College of Music, Manchester.

The format of five sections will be retained, therefore there will be five National Youth Band Champions.

• Premier Youth Band Champions
• County Band Champions
• Community Band Champions
• Schools Band Champions
• Junior Band Champions

The intentions remain:

1. To even up the numbers in the classes.

2. To give more bands an opportunity to win recognition for all the dedication and skill that they demonstrate.

3. To provide and incentive for more bands to challenge for premier honours.

There will be four set test pieces, one each for the Premier, County, Community and Schools Sections. There will be no test piece for Junior Bands, who are required to include at least one piece especially composed for brass band.

For 2008 all sections will contest on one day only. Two halls will be used.

The presentation of results will take place at the conclusion of each section.

We are sure that your band and supporters will find participation in the National Youth Championships an enjoyable and constructive experience.
