The organisers of the British Open Solo and Quartet Championships announce the cancellation of this years event.

Following on from the recent announcement regarding the withdrawal of Tameside Metropolitan District Council’s support for the British Open Solo and Quartet Championships, event organiser Frank Hodges is encouraged by the interest being expressed in supporting the contest by other parties.

However due to the late announcement by Tameside, unfortunately it will not be possible for this year’s contest to take place. It is intended that discussions with interested parties will be progressed with a view to securing a suitable new venue together with the potential for a new sponsorship arrangement to ensure that the 2012 Contest can go ahead.

The organisers will be contacting all the successful competitors with returnable trophy’s  with regard to arranging their return.
