Voluntary Arts Network (VAN)
Voluntary Arts Network (VAN) is a development agency for the voluntary
arts.
VAN aims to promote participation in the arts and crafts across the UK
and Republic of Ireland. Over half of the UK adult population is involved
in the voluntary arts and crafts. They are wide-ranging and include folk,
dance, drama, literature, media, music, visual arts, crafts, applied arts
and festivals as well as brass bands. VAN recognises that voluntary arts
are a key part of our culture and as such they are absolutely vital to
our health, social and economic development.
BFBB currently has seats on the VAN Board and the Voluntary Arts Link
Committee.
BFBB supports the work of VAN for a number of reasons; VAN publishes regular
e-newsletters providing information on opportunities, seminars, funding
and news about members.
VAN also publish briefing sheets offering advice on issues relevant to
the sector which has assisted BFBB to develop many of its information
packs for brass bands and VAN specialises in arts management training
and research into the organisational development needs of the sector as
well as responding to government and relevant organisational initiatives.
