NYBC - Conditions of entry
Training Band Category.
The intention is to encourage very young bands/ players to take part in
the day’s music making. There will be no monetary prizes and Gold,
Silver and Bronze certificates will not be awarded, however a trophy will
be presented by the adjudicators to the ‘Band of the Day’.
Every band will receive an adjudication comments sheet. Established youth
bands should not enter this section.
All players must be 16 or under on the 31st August 2010.
Up to 4 players over the official age limit will be allowed to play
The small bands/groups will be invited to play a programme of not more
than 15 minutes of music duration.
Junior Band Championship.
This class is open to bands comprising of beginners/ junior players.
All players must be 16 or under on the 31st August 2010
The band s will be invited to play a varied programme of not more than
15 minutes of music duration. The programme must include at least one
piece of music, which has been composed for brass band.
Intermediate Band Championship.
This class is open to all bands comprising of beginners/junior/ intermediate
players. The expected standard would be a musical step up than that of
the junior section.
All players must be 18 or under on the 31st August 2010.
Each band is invited to play a programme of 20 minutes music duration,
including the performance of the set test piece.
Advanced Band Championship.
This class is open to all bands seeking a greater musical challenge.
All players must be 19 or under on the 31st August 2010.
Each band is invited to play a programme of 20 minutes music duration,
including the performance of the set test piece
Premiere Band Championship.
This class is open to bands that are inspired to the greater Challenge
of playing one substantial test piece for brass band. Any remaining time
should be used to demonstrate the highest musical achievements of the
band. (It is not the expectation that bands play another full test piece,
however, we would expect bands to choose music of a serious and demanding
nature)
Each band is invited to play a programme of 25 minutes duration, including
the performance of the set test piece.
All players must be 20 or under on the 31st August 2010.
NB It will be an expectation that the winners of a class will move
up to the higher class the following year.
