National Association of Music Educators conference

The conference programme has been announced for this year’s National Association of Music Educators (NAME) conference, which takes place on Friday 18 to Sunday 20 September at the University of York.
Lincoln Abbotts, Chief Executive of Music for Youth, is the opening speaker. Other keynote speakers for the three-day event, which takes ‘musical development’ as its theme, will be: early years specialist Marjorie Ouvry looking at the fundamental importance of the young child’s early music experiences; Tony Knight HMI, Oftsted’s specialist adviser for music, who will give an update on the Ofsted report Making More of Music; and Katherine Zeserson, Director of Learning and Participation at The Sage Gateshead.
The conference features a broad mix of workshops, presentations and keynote sessions, as well as a comprehensive exhibition of music education products from a wide range of companies.
