Nigel Morgan

Professional

Nigel is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales.
He trained with the international firm of chartered accountants, KPMG and after twenty years moved to another international firm, Grant Thornton, where he stayed for 14 years until took early retirement in 2004. Specialising in audit he was a senior manager in both firms.

In 2006 Nigel was elected treasurer to the British Federation of Brass Bands.
In October 2008 he took on a part time role as Head of Finance with a Christian Charity, The Listening Post.

Banding history

Nigel started playing at the age of 9 learning the tenor horn with his local town band.
At the age of 19 he moved to the Lydbrook Band on euphonium where he stayed for 20 years. During this time he took on the role of treasurer and later the role of Chairman. In these years the famous euphonium player Lyndon Baglin was Lydbrook’s musical director. He retired from playing due to professional work commitments but continued as compere to many of Lydbrook’s concerts. In 1997 he returned to banding as musical director of Tewkesbury Town Band, a position he still holds.
