Gary Jones
Gary has been involved with Brass Bands since starting high school in
1980, initially playing with Langley Junior Band and Sandwell Youth Band.
In 1984 Gary joined the West Bromwich Band before moving a year later
to the Staffordshire Band (then Walsall Highgate). After several successful
years, Gary moved to Sovereign Brass in 1995. Due to increased work and
family commitments, Gary ‘retired’ from banding and playing
in 1997.
In 2002, Gary was asked to start playing again with Langley Band, where
he is now a member of the management team, although has again ‘retired’
from contests. Gary is also a member of the West Midlands Brass Band Association
committee.
Gary was co-opted onto the BFBB executive committee in September 2008.
Outside of the band world, Gary lives in Bromsgrove, Worcestershire and is the director of a specialist software consultancy company.
