Arts Council England (ACE)

Arts Council England (ACE) is a national development agency for the arts in England, distributing public money from Government and the National Lottery.

ACE works to get great art to everyone by championing, developing and investing in artistic experiences that enrich people’s lives.

As a national development agency for the arts, ACE supports a range of artistic activities from theatre to music, literature to dance, photography to digital art and carnival to crafts. Between 2008 and 2011 ACE will invest in excess of £1.6 billion of public money from the government and the National Lottery in the Arts.

ACE regularly funds around 880 arts organisations on a three-year basis, investing £350million per annum by 2010/11. The aim is to bring high quality work to a wide range of people - as both audience and participants.

BFBB is one of the regularly funded organisations (RFO) and was pleased to retain its RFO status in the latest review of ACE spending, at a time when a total of 185 organisations did not have their funding renewed and 27 organisations had their funding reduced.
