| The BFBB aims
to maintain, improve, represent and promote the practice and
performance of brass band music in the UK. The BFBB is constantly
working on behalf of member bands to meet these objectives. |
THE IMPORTANCE OF FUNDING
Founded in 1968, the BFBB aims to support brass bands throughout
the UK, ensuring a secure and successful future for the brass band
movement. An annually elected Executive Committee work hard utilising
their individual brass band experience, together with professional
staff, to push for positive and fruitful developments in brass band
music and contesting.
A member of the national organisation for
brass bands can expect representation of themselves to related organisations,
and also a place to be democratically recognised. We are constantly
working behind the scenes for member brass bands, promoting them
to those outside the movement. Such as lobbying local authorities
to include more brass bands in their community entertainment schedules,
overseeing contesting procedures, locating funds to distribute to
member bands for brass band workshops and ensuring that they are
put forward for performance opportunities on television and radio.
Of course this work can only continue to be successful and worthwhile
to musicians in the brass band movement if there is sufficient financial
support. Membership fees of bands and individuals is always a great
support, but of course costs are incurred in recruiting and retaining
these members and the everyday running costs of providing a central
contact point for the brass band movement.
The BFBB is always thankful for financial support to continue this
essential work. If you would like to help us please contact our
National Office.
